Sudarshan Shetty

Project for Rolls–Royce 2016

Shetty’s work  comprises a two- channel film anchored by two wooden structures. Entitled ‘A Song A Story’, it was on view from 18 -25 November 2016 at the Maker Maxity in Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai, alongside Shetty’s existing ‘Flying Bus’ public art project.

Sudarshan Shetty, commenting on his work for the Art Programme, said, “It is a powerful experience for me as an artist to be part of the Rolls-Royce Art Programme and to have the freedom to further explore my own practice in my native India. For me, it was a privilege to be part of the Programme and to align a level of craftsmanship in my own work with that of Rolls-Royce.”
Shetty was the first artist from India to join the Rolls-Royce Art Programme, founded in celebration of the marque’s commitment to creating unique, rare and aesthetically powerful motor cars, which transcend the world of conveyance to become works of art themselves. Earlier this year, he was appointed as Artistic Director of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, which opens in December 2016.
