Exhibition Michele Melillo at Rockefeller Center New York

We are delighted to share the addition of 23 new works by the German-based artist Michele Melillo to a New York corporate collection. The paintings have now been installed in offices at the iconic Rockefeller Center, marking a significant moment in Melillo’s international journey.
The arrival of the works was celebrated with a vernissage attended by invited guests, welcoming the paintings to one of the city’s most storied cultural and commercial landmarks.

Under the title A Childhood Reimagined, Melillo revisits the visual language of childhood by implementing flattened forms, heightened colour, and intuitive mark-making. By infusing humour, strangeness, and a sharp contemporary gaze familiar symbols are subtly destabilised. Early memories, consumer imagery, and inherited cultural narratives intertwine and shape our gaze. It is another series that clearly demonstrates the diversity in Melillo’s practice.
New York has a way of leaving its mark. We’re curious to see how this experience will echo in Melillo’s next body of work.
